The Delhi High Court has created an Intellectual Property Division (IPD), that will deal solely with intellectual property related matters. Exclusive Intellectual Property benches are likely to be created in pursuance of the same. Following the abolition of the various Boards and Appellate Tribunals through the Tribunals Reforms Ordinance, the High Court has seen it fit to create dedicated Divisions to expedite matters. The IPD, besides dealing with original proceedings, would also deal with Writ Petitions (Civil), CMM, RFA, FAO relating to Intellectual Property Rights disputes, except those which are required to be dealt with by the Division Bench. Notifications are awaited regarding the nomenclature for petitions and other procedural aspects for such benches.
